November 30, 1877

Married-In Muncy Creek township on the 22nd inst., Alfred F. Miller and Miss Phoebe E. Smith, both of Muncy.

St. James’ Rectory on Washington street, was entered by thieves on Sunday night, but little booty was secured by the marauders. A few cents in change, some milk, and a few apples will cover the loss.

A boat team owned by Hank Godfrey, of Lock Haven, was pulled from the high towing path along the pool of Muncy Dam last Wednesday. The team consisted of two horses and a mule. The horses were killed but his mule-ship escaped unhurt.

Married: At Lewisburg, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1885, William L. Albright and Miss Ada E. Grange, both of Muncy.

Died: In this borough, on the 21st inst., Israel Wells, aged 74 years.

More than 900 buildings have been erected in Williamsport during the past year.

Thursday, Nov. 29, 1917

Phillip Watt, aged seven years, had his leg broken in two places Monday afternoon while attempting to jump on a large farm wagon.

Mr. and Mrs. Archie Rupert returned to their home here after a few days’ visit with the latter’s parents in Picture Rocks.

Carl Shug, of Hughesville, who has been at the Officers’ Training Camp at Fort Niagara, has been commissioned a first lieutenant of infantry, and has been ordered to camp Upton, L.L.

Born: To Mr. and Mrs. Murry Zealor, on Nov. 4th, a son.

Died: Mrs. Luther Rothfus died on Thursday morning at 10:45 o’clock at her home at Fairview farm, Muncy R. D. No. 2; The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Moore died this morning at 4:30 o’clock.

The famous Plymouth Glee Club will make its first appearance in Muncy at the union services to be held at the Baptist church on Sunday evening.

Muncy Creek and Clinton townships already have their quota of drinking places under the 1939 law banning additional bars in communities having more than one for each 1,000 inhabitants, but Penn, Moreland and Mill Creek townships each have a “vacancy” for one full license: Fairfield township for one beer license and Muncy towns;hip for one liquor license.

Died: Mrs. Jennie Gray Mathers, well-known local resident, died Tuesday morning at 9:30 following an operation. She was aged 61.
