150 years ago
Mark Mendenhall, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Mendenhall, of Clinton township, was severely injured in the head Friday morning with a hatchet. He was assisting Mr. Benjamin Wilson in repairing a hay fork when the hatchet accidentally flew out of Mr. Wilson’s hand, striking Mendenhall on the head, the blade penetrating nearly through the skull.
While Peter Betz, of his borough, was returning home Sunday evening he fell from the back seat of his wagon to the ground receiving internal injuries which confined him to his bed.
Married-On Thursday, 29th inst., by Rev. George Parson, Mr. James Fahrenback and Miss Annie Edwards, both of Muncy.
On the 25th, by the Rev. Jacob Miller, Hugh McFadden and Miss Mary A. Bridge, both of Muncy Creek township.
On the 4th inst., at Muncy, by S. Schuyler, Esq., Daniel Gordner of Pine Township, to Miss Eliza Richards, of Jordan Township, Lycoming County.

A benefit for the playground fund will be given at the Opera House July 2nd, when the four part photoplay, “The Fairy and the Waif,” will be produced.
Born-To Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Rottmann, of Nebraska, City, Neb., on June 16th, a son, who has been named Frederick William Rottmann. Mrs. Rottmann who before marriage was Miss Lillydale Koser, is well known by many of our readers, as her father, Rev. J.A. Koser, was pastor of the Lutheran church here some years ago.
Died: J. Horace Rogers, aged 69 years, a veteran of the Civil War, died suddenly at his home, in Picture Rocks, about 7 o’clock Sunday evening; Mrs. Howard E. Gray, of Roaring Branch, this county, who several months ago, refused an offer of John Mock, brother-in-law of Charles M. Schwab, of $100,000, for her little two-year old daughter, died in a private hospital in Williamsport on Monday, Mrs. Gray was 22 years of age.
