Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1865

150 years ago

Capt. G. W. Webb, of the 2nd Pa. Artillery, Capt. W.V. Farr, of the 10th Pa Regt., and Captain Hart, of the 5th Pennsylvania calvary, all of this vicinity, are prisoners in the hands of the rebels and among the officers confined at Charleston, S.C.

A Union meeting was held in the borough on Wednesday evening, Charles H. Shriner, the Union candidate for Senator and G.B. Manley, Union candidate for assembly, being the speakers.

Died-In this borough on Thursday morning last, Mrs. Anna Bruner, wife of Major Isaac Bruner, aged 66 years.

In this borough on the 8th inst., John HIgh, aged 23.

George Van Buskirk, of Hughesville, had his hand badly cut while working at Laird & Co.s furniture factory, at that place.

The season at Eagles Mere is about over, and it was a most successful one. A company intends to stock the lake with game fish.

The store of G.W. Crawford, the well-known postmaster and merchant at Moreland, was entered last Friday night and $6 in money and postage stamps to the amount of $40 were carried off.

Harry Shaw, a little son of Volney Shaw, caught a chub in Walton’s basin that measured 22 inches.

A little son of William Fraley, of Shrewsbury township, was drowned in Muncy creek in Sunday.

Consulting engineers to the State Department of Highways charged with the location and design of the area by-pass highway will meet with area representatives at Muncy Creek Township.

Recent visitors to our town were Keith and Marian Michael, making their first stop in Muncy in several years to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Michael.

One of the math instructors at the new Williamsport Community College is Wayne Frey, of Muncy.

Died: Sylvester Spring, 90, of Muncy, died Saturday at his home; Warren M. McMichael, 63, Muncy, died Sept 10; Ernest H. Cawthra, 84, Muncy, Sept. 3.
