Married-In this borough, on the 29th ult., Robert P. HIgh, of Watsontown, and Miss Sarah E. Greasey, of Muncy.

Died-IN this borough, on Saturday afternoon last, Dr. Thomas Wood, aged about 75 years.

Commissioner Merrill has must performed the duty assigned him of putting our streets in good order. Will not Constable Hinkle see to keeping our alleys clean and unobstructed?

A second base ball club is about to be organized in Muncy.

John Shoemaker announces the removal of his carpet weaving establishment from near Clarkstown to Green St., Muncy.

S.B. Shoemaker is having his tenant house on South Main street enlarged.

Miss Ada Winter gave a pleasant party last Thursday evening.

Miss Tessie Bickel is home from the University hospital, Philadelphia, where she received treatment for injured received in a fall three years ago.

100 years ago

“Seven Joyous Days” opened by a Parade-Chautauqua at Picture Rocks attracting large crowds, many from Muncy.

At a recent meeting of the board of directors of the Lycoming County Fair association it was decided to build an addition to the grandstand and make a number of other need improvements on the Hughesville fair grounds.

The annual field day and picnic of the Howard club, Knights Templar, was held at Ederbloom cottage, near South Williamsport, last Thursday. There were many athletic events. The bag race was captured by Cordeen Phlegar, of Muncy, and the consolation race went to Howard Waldron, also of Muncy.

A United Press dispatch received by The Sun Friday afternoon said that William Lieb, son of Emanuel T. Lieb, the Civil war veteran who was shot and killed in his home near Muncy by Charles A. PHillips, in January, 1915, had been killed in action in the English army, somewhere in Europe.

The daughter of Mrs. L.E. Felton, of Muncy, came face to face with a bear while picking huckleberries near her home.

Ward Gray, aged about 21 years, residing about a mile and a half from Hughesville, was struck by lightning and killed, during the electric storm which passed over that section Monday.

Died: Christian S. Hess died Thursday morning at his home in Port Penn, age the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 14 days.

Seaman Recruits Lynn L. Van Dine, of Hughesville, and Donald Houseknecht, of Hughesville have been graduated from seven weeks of Navy basic training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Illinois.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gresh, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Poust, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winn spent last weekend in New York City.

Carl D. Bieber, of Muncy, received his master’s degree in education with a major in social studies at the summer commence exercises at Bloomsburg State college.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard McClain, Picture Rocks, will observe their 45th wedding anniversary on Aug. 6.
