Died-At her home in Towanda, Aug. 4, Mrs. Martha Patterson, formerly of Muncy, aged 73 years.

August 5 the thermometer registered 99 in the shade and 124 in the sun.

Samuel Sprout’s new house in East Muncy is nearing completion.

The old Shoemaker farm at the Muncy Mills, was purchased from Mrs. Hannah Montgomery and Miss Annie S. Drake, by A.J. Sollery recently.

A single engine high wing monoplane crash landed in a cornfield near Montgomery last Thursday night and the pilot, Guy DeFrancesco, 43, of Blakely, Lackawanna County, escaped with hardly a scratch.

Sisters Misty and Tina Barto qualified for district competition in the Lycoming County 4-H Roundup.

The Peanut Festival will be held at Montgomery Park Aug. 24.

Everyone’s favorite cat, Garfield, visited the Lycoming Mall last week to promote the use of the public library.
