A shooting match for a rifle came off on the ice in the canal on Monday. The prize was won by Clint Guyer 17 years of age, on a string measuring three-six-tenths of an inch,

A team of colts owned by Geo., Dimm, of Muncy townships, broke loose from a post at Edward’s’ shoe shop in Muncy Creek township, on Tuesday, and ran to Gudykunst’s store, where they ran into a sleigh owned by E. Walton, Esq., an smashed it into kindling wood. ONe of the colts was badly injured.

At the election of the Hunlock’s Creek and Muncy Railroad company, held at Bloomsburg, Jan 8, the following board was elected: President, Maj. H.W. Petrickin; directors, P.M. Trumbower, P.M. Smith, C. Mozley, E.R. Noble, G.W. Phillips, John Crouse, Jonas Doty, F.A.E. Koons, S.H. Dodson, Peter Laubach, Richard Stiles and John Koons.

The First National Bank of Muncy, at the close of business, Dec. 22, 1870, had deposits of $64,907.25

Married-On Christmas day, Philip Fahrenbach and Miss Hannah Whitmeyer, both of Muncy.

Died-In this borough, Dec. 31, 1884, Mary S. Ayres, aged 71 years.

S.B. Shoemaker has been promoted to be general storekeeper and gauger of the 12th collection district.

The Keystone Paint company celebrated the end of the old year by shipping twenty tons of paint on the last day of 1884.

Ellis Gundrum bought out S. D. Renn’s confectionary and cigar store last week.

Carrying out the wish of her husband, the late DeWitt Bodine, Mrs. Emma Biddle Bodine has presented to the borough of Hughesville a three-acre tract of land situated at the western end of Water street o be used as a municipal playground and pleasure park.

During last year – leap year- there were 668 marriage licenses issued in Lycoming county.

Perry Zarr, of Muncy No. 1, is busily engaged n getting out the timber for a new barn to be built in the spring to take the place of the structure that was destroyed by lighting on August 26.

Isaac Albeck, residing on Muncy No. 1, has an easy chair that was made in Wittenberg, Germany 165 years ago.

John Opp, of Muncy No. 1, threshing outfit cleaned up nearly 50,000 bushels of grain last year.

Three Aged Ladies Called By Death-Mrs. Sophia Foust, Mrs. Harriet Kelchner and Mrs. Jane Milnor Answer Summons-Were Octogenarians.

Max Bieber, of Muncy, graduated from the PA State Police Academy at Hershey.

The home of Henry Gingles, the doorway of Mrs. Edward Smith, and the overall display at the Anthony G. Rizzo residence on Sprout Road, were adjudged first place winners in the three special categories of the 1966 home decorations contest.

Miss Anne Patrizio, of Muncy, becomes engaged to Philippe L. Durette.

One Christmas baby arrived at Muncy Valley hospital, a daughter, Christine Elaine, who was born to Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Peterman, of Benton. The mother is the former Jane Whitmoyer.

Byron Elder, of Philadelphia, is spending the holiday with his sisters, Mrs. Margaret Noble and Miss Alice Elder, of Picture Rocks.

Richard Gray, of Atlanta, Ga., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Gray, Hughesville, en route to Toronto, Canada.
