140 years ago

Henry Renn has opened a meat market on Main street, next door south of Peterman’s hardware store.

The 4th in this place was ushered in by the firing of guns and a street parade by the Muncy Cornet band.

R.F. Cornelison is preparing to erect a resident on the southeast corning of Market and Grant streets.

Thomas , George L., and W.P. Painter and A.D. Foucart, of Muncy, are camping on Muncy creek a few miles above Sonestown.

Stanton son of John Van Buskirk, of Muncy Valley House, was run over by a wagon Saturday last, and suffered a painful injury to his leg. The wagon was loaded with over 1000 feet of green lumber and it passed fairly over the leg.

Died-At his residence in Muncy Creek township, on Monday morning, June 29, Rev. George Eichholtz, aged 71 years.

Unityville will have a grand celebration on the 4th of July, Music by Millville band and fireworks at night.

Hon. Robert K. Reeder, who has been associated with Wm. E. Crawford, Esq., in Hughesville, has opened a law office in Muncy.

An old fashioned Fourth of July celebration will be held at Hughesville

The roof over the oven at the Parker HOuse took fire last Friday. It was extinguished before much damage was done.

Home for Women Nearing Completion-Corner Stone was laid in May, 1916, but Shortage of Labor Held Up Construction-May Be a War Hospital

Homer J. Edwards, the grocery man, while on a fishing rip last week, saw two deer, bear, porcupine.

The exterior work on the large addition to the foundry at the Sprout, Waldron & Company plant has been finished and work is being hurried of the interior.

Miss Mayme Gertrude Kramer, of South Market street, and P.A. Caris, of Philadelphia, were married last Thursday morning.

Born: To Mr. and Mrs. George R. Deiter, at the home of Mrs. Keiter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Womer, on Saturday last, a daughter.

Died: Reginald H. Reeder, one of the best known and highly respected citizens of Muncy Creek township, did at his home near Muncy last Thursday, aged 56 years.

R. Wayne Klingerman has been installed as new commander of Edward J. Smith Post No. 328.

Miss Carole Hoffman, of Muncy, wed Alfonso Lopez on June 10.

Miss Susan D. Cottle becomes Bride of Bruce Wenzel on June 10.

Florentino J. Caimi, MHS band director, wed to Miss Carol Cousart on June 10.
