Died-In this borough, on Tuesday, Aug. 21, Jacob Dewalt, aged 34 years.
Major Bruner’s planing mill on East Water street was started up for the first time on Thursday of last week. The machinery worked to the satisfaction of those interested.,
Our townsman, Judson K. Rogers, has purchased a one-half interest in the oil works of Ely & Co., at Williamsport.
The Baptist congregation of this place will picnic at the Muncy Trout Ponds on Saturday next.
High Constable Fahrenbach contemplated the arrest of three well known resident of Muncy Creek township, Saturday night, who refused in an insolent manner to move on and thereby open a passage over the pavement at the corner of Main and HIgh streets. The officer will be sustained in this efforts to break up the rowdyism and crowding that has become so common at that corner.

At the Muncy Lutheran parsonage, Aug. 15, H. J. Shell to Miss Agnes M. Harrison, both of Muncy.
Died-At his residence in Muncy borough Tuesday, Aug. 18, Dr. A. Hepburn Rankin, in the 53rd year of his age; In Muncy borough Aug 15, Sarah, wife of Henry Golder, aged 53 years; In this borough, Aug. 19, infant son of B. W. and Laura Harris.
A. Lee Waterman, of New York, is in town this week and prsposes to number the houses on all the streets in Muncy, including those of East Muncy.
Samuel McReynolds and John Artley represented Muncy borough at the Democratic convention.
S.E. Sprout is manufacturing five different sizes of fruit evaporators now. The largest sell for $800 and the smallest $5.
Cyrus Long and two cousins go on the road this with with a “Polyopticon Show.”

The great human lottery has thought out a number of queer things. Two Muncy men, Origen A. and Nathan R. Harvey, sons of Mr. and Mrs. George Harvey, of this place, registered for the draft, their numbers being 866 and 886, respectively. When the numbers were drawn at Washington it was found that the former’s number was in the thirty-ninth hundred and the latter’s in the fortieth hundred.
This week The Luminary closes its seventy-sixth volume.
In a baseball game that was featured by heavy hitting on the part of the Muncy Normal team, the school team defeated Hughesville on Saturday by the score of 13 to 0. Ringler was in the box for Muncy and struck out seventeen men Saturday afternoon this team will play the strong Picture Rocks team at Muncy, this being the commencement game.

Muncy swimmers win area swim championship. Becky Waldron in 12 and under won three events. Lark Pfleegor broke the record in the 10 and under 100-yard individual medley, and Jan Pfleegor broke the record in the 100 yard freestyle mark.
Vandalism in cemetery at Muncy is still being investigated. A total of 61 stones were overturned, some of them severely damaged in the process.

During renovation, Mike and Gail Wood discovered that the house at 22 South Market Street in Muncy was a one room brick schoolhouse many years ago.
