Frank Peterman and James P. Dykins will leave in a day or two for Philadelphia, from whence they expected to sail for Brazil on the steamer City of Richmond early next week. The to to work on the Madera railroad. It is expected that W.A. Petrikin, now in Philadelphia, will accompany them to South America, also to work on this great engineering contract.

A buffalo robe, blankets and other articles were stolen from Jesse Haines, of Muncy township. Recently, High Constable Fahrenbach recovered the goods in Sullivan County Friday of last week. The stealing was done by two men, named Whipple and Hagerty, and Constable Fahrenbach made an effort to arrest them, but failed.

Johnson has purchased the brick yard of B.F. Johnson, in Muncy.

Died: John G. Gohrs died on Mechanic street this (Friday) morning, aged 60 years, 5 months and 11 days; Maylon Taylor died at his home at Glade Run Friday last, aged 84 years; John Good, one of the best known millers in this section of the state, died suddenly Friday night at his home at Newberry.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carleton Drinker announce the marriage of their daughter, Eleanor Rodman, to Mr. Oscar William Hausermann, Lieutenant officers Reserve Corps, three hundred first machine gun battalion, on Monday, the twenty-eight of January, 1918, at Pittsburgh.

Driven by a high wind, fire swept through the three-story business block, owned by the Star Clothing House, in Market squares, Williamsport, on Monday, entailing a loss of $80,000.

Robert Huff, night operator at the Muncy depot, P. and R.R., has been promoted to be station agent at White Deer Mills.

Died: At her in in Port Penn, Jan. 30, Mrs. Alexander Smith, after a long and tedious illness.

Frank Corson, who was driving back for his father, Capt. Wm., Corson, and three passengers, narrowly escaped death at the Philadelphia and Reading railroad crossing, on West Water Street, Monday afternoon. As he drove on the crossing the up train, which was late, dashed into the team, killing one horse instantly and mangling the other so badly it had to be shot. The horses were cut from the hack when struck, and the vehicle was scarcely jarred. The team was valued at over $500.

Miss Margaret Turner has been named 1968 winner of the annual Daughters of American Revolution award at Muncy high school.

Classrooms appeared virtually deserted in the Muncy schools on Monday, Jan. 15, when classes convened with more than 200 students absent. There were 122 missing at the high school and 78 from elementary, plus five high school teachers and three in grade school.

Joseph Holmes, of Muncy, has lead in Jr. League Play.
