We published two weeks ago the report of the arrest of James Carl and Peter Dolan, the former charged with stealing a horse belong to Isaiah Hays, of Cogan Station, this county and the latter charged with being a party to the theft, and expressed the opinion that so far as Mr. Dolan was concerned, he was innocent of the charge. A letter received last week from a neighbor of Mr. Dolans’ and an old friend and acquaintance of ours shows conclusive to our mind that we were entirely correct in our opinion.

Ann accident resulting in the death of Mrs. Mary Jane Rogers occurred about 3:30 Sunday afternoon near the Johnson farm on the Williamsport road when Miss Eleanor Rogers of near Pennsdale was coming from Williamsport accompanied by her grandmother, Mrs. Rogers and cousin, Janet Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parker Rogers.

Heyman Herr, who has owned and operated a clothing store in MUncy at the same location on Main St. since 1905, sold his stock on June 15 to Paul Mendelsohn, who will continue to carry the same kind of merchandise.

After several weeks illness, Willard L. Bruch, 49, died at his home on Water St., Sunday

Craig Morrell Kift, 51, died at the Geisinger Hospital, June 10, having been admitted to the hospital the previous day.

Funeral services were held for John Howard Kahler, aged 76, who died Saturday afternoon at his home on South Washington St.

Mrs. Lucinda Hockley Murray, aged 84,died Friday,mJune 11, after a lingering illness.

Captain Daniel L. Madison of the Merchant Marines, son of Mr. and MNRs. W. F. Madison of South Market ST.,, who is engaged in convoying vital materials to our Allies, has been cited for his services in the war effort by letter from the Army Transport Service.

Three sets of rationing were suspended by War Price Rationing Board at hearings Wednesday evening in the office at Montgomery. Admitted pleasure driving by Robert O. McKee, Muncy, resulted in the loss of his gasoline rationing books for a six month period. Two suspensions of all rationing for one year each were verdicts given in the case of Arthur K. Faulkiner, Muncy, and Earl Warner, Montgomery.

Sgt. and Mrs. Bryan Dugan were married June 8 at Hughesville.

Pennsdale-James Drick spent a seven day furlough with his parents here the past week.

Dick and Lewis Soars, of Muncy, spent several days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Worthington.

Eudora Fry, Thelma Reed, and Dorothy Corson have gone to Baltimore where they expect to be employed.

Muncy Business Bureau has announced “Sidewalk Days’ for the Muncy merchants on Friday and Saturday.

Thirty years of faithful service to the congregation of St.James’ Episcopal church by the Rev. Frederick V. Holmes will be recognized on Thursday, June 27, when the retired pastor will be guest of honor at a testimonial dinner.

Roy Elwood Snyder was one of the last of his breed. He was truly a country printer, and now he will set no more hand type, nor will he crank up old job presses. At the age of 74, Roy died last week, but among the many colleagues and friends he garnered in nearly half a century as a printer, he will not be forgotten.

Engagement told of Ellen C. Richart, Muncy, to Ralph W. Fogleman, also of Muncy.
