The general stagnation in business seems to have reached Muncy as well as hundreds of other places throughout the Country. Ort, Gundrum and Company, Manufacturers of Tables, have closed down, throwing a number of men out of employment, and on Saturday last Sprout Waldron and Company manufacturers of mill machinery, laid off 29 men, making a total number of men discharged during the past two weeks by the firm at not less than fifty. The reasons given by the above firms are the lack of orders and not being able to make collections.
