Married on the 17th ult., by J.S. Christine, Charles N. Smith of Franklin township, and Miss Ellen J. Houseknecht of Penn township.
Died at Chester, Delaware County, PA., on Saturday the 10th inst., Rev. James De Pui, aged 65 years.
Messrs. Pryor and Berlin have commenced the publication of a new paper at Quakertown, Bucks County, PA., under the title of The Independent. It makes a good appearance. We wish it success.

A charter was granted by the State Department at Harrisburg on Monday to the Muncy Electric Light and Power Company. Capital $20,000.
The Citizens of Muncy were shocked to learn on Friday morning last that Mr. Harry Lenhart, superintendent and manager of the Muncy Electric light, Heat and Power Company, had died suddenly at the Commercial Hotel Thursday night.
This has been a remarkable season for a good growth of vegetables, and a noted season for big potatoes Now we have before us a turnip weighing sixteen pounds and with the top on it tipped the scales at twenty one pounds, and measured thirty six inches, in circumference. This turnip was raised by MR. Frank Dimm, of Lewis township., Northumberland County, who presented it to us.

Knighted by King George VI-Lieutenant General Ira Eaker.-Commander in Chief of the United States Air Forces in Britain-Honored in Ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Oct. 13 was made a Knight of the British Empire.
Miss Mary Swisher of Unityville and Arthur L. Marquardt of Muncy were married Friday evening in Montgomery.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Baker in Buffalo, Oct. 7. Mr. Baker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Baker of N. Market St.
Clarkstown-Clyde Persun is confined to his home suffering an attack of rheumatism.
Kenneth Shook and family have moved from Clarkstown to Port Penn.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Worthington of Montgomery called on Mr. and Mrs. Charles Worthington Sunday afternoon.
Miss Ruth Tremble of Pennsdale spent the weekend with Mr. an Mrs. Bruce Tremble.
Pennsdale- Mrs. Alice Tule spent several days the past week with her daughter, MRs. Arthur Springer in Hughesville.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Arthur at the Muncy Valley hospital on Thursday Oct. 14, a daughter.
