1924

Mrs. Mary Jane Bitler, widow of the late Samuel Bitler, died a at her home at Clarkstown, on Saturday morning, 83 years.

The 44t commencement exercise of the Muncy High School were held in Educational Hall on Thursday afternoon, and a large audience witnessed the exercise of the class of 1924 composed of 16 young women and 10 young men.

Miss Etta E. Angle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Angle, at this place, and Mervin M. Hall, of Hughesville, were married at Hagerstown, Md., May 26.

1934

Jas. Moran, of Muncy Valley, father of our townsman, Jas. Moran, proprietor of the New Crawford, died at the homo of his son, J.W. MMOran, Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Margaret Stoler died at 5:45 o’clock Saturday afternoon at her home at Port Penn. She was 64 years of age.

A total of $453.96 was subscribed for the Lycoming County Crippled Children’s Society in Muncy in the drive just completed.

Geo.S. Woodward, of N.J., son of Mrs. Emerson Woodward, of this place, died very suddenly of a heart attack on Wednesday evening of last week.

A large bear visited the Apiary Yard of former Police Officer Harry Merrill on Saturday and Sunday night. The Apiary is situated must beyond the Look Out on Muncy Hills.

Engagement announced of Miss Mary Bruch, Muncy, to Cpl. O. Linwood Young, Jr., of Williamsport.

William R. Hill, Muncy, died Thursday evening, Mary 2, at his home on South Washington Street.

Marriage announced of Edna Fenstamaker of Unityville to P.F.C. Carl Harding of Muncy, on May 23.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sterner, of Pennsdale, a daughter, May 26.

Private funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Evelyn Louise McCarty, aged 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson McCarty, Hughesville, who died Friday at the Geisinger Hospital, following a four-day illness of meningitis.

May 8, 1969

Miss Beth Aldish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Aldish, was crowned 1969 May Queen at the traditional Muncy high school ceremony on May 3.

William I. Banzhaf, Muncy native, will assume command of Troop F. PA State Police at Montoursville and will be promoted to the rank of captain.

Wayne Frey, Muncy, has accepted a position in production engineering with Stackpole Carbon company in St. Marys.

Miss Gretchen LaNora Luft, of near Muncy, and Patrick Gerard Ward of Maryland exchanged vows on May 3.

Hughesville High School majorettes have added three trophies to the school’s trophy case with recent prize-winning demonstrations.

Clyde Frantz, Hughesville, a sophomore wrestler at Penn State, has been named co-captain of the Nittany Lion matmen for the coming year.
