The rains last week came too late to help the clover crop, and the crop of clover hay will be very short.
Fishing parties to the Loyalsock have not been very successful this season.
Roland, a little son of Mrs. Johnson, widow of William Johnson, aged about 8 years, was drowned in Muncy creek, near this borough, on Saturday last, while fishing. His body was recovered about an hour after the accident.
The postoffice at Milton has been made a money order office.
It is stated that the fire on White Deer mountains, last week, caused a loss of $20,000 to lumbermen.

Muncy was a very lively town on decoration day.
At a meeting of theSchool Board Dr. William Rankin was elected president, D.B. Dykens, secretary, and T.C. Wells, treasurer.
General Kilpatrick delivered his celebrated lecture, “incidents and Battle Scenes of the Rebellion,” at Educational Hall, Saturday evening.
Prof. Preston Gowers is instructing a class on the organ.

What might have been a serous automobile accident occurred on the mile hill, south of town, last Friday evening, when a five-passenger car occupied by a Mr. Coperwhite, of Haddonfield, J.J. and Allen Clement, a Philadelphia attorney, plunged down an embankment turning over three times and landing against the barn of Simon Betts with both men pinned under it. A passing car, driven by two Milton men, was stopped and in this the injured men were brought to Muncy and taken to the office of Dr. J.W. Albright, where they received medical attention.
On a Sunday afternoon while MR. and MRs.Geo. L. Painter were driving past a field of rye, on the McVey’s farm, South of town, a half grown fawn jumped up and started for a piece of woodland nearby. How the deer got in that part of the country is a mystery.
Miss Violet Smith, of near Lairdsville, and Aaron R. Taylor, of this place, were united in marriage Tuesday, at 9 o’clock.
William J. Beal, of this place, and Martha Miller Winder, of Montgomery, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
Died: William A. Brobst died at his home on South Main Street, Friday afternoon, aged 72 years, 6 months, and 21 days; Charles A. Hockler, aged 37 years, died at the Mannond hospital at Erie last Friday evening, May 23.

Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Milheim of North Market Street now have four children in the Armed Forces. They are T/Cpl.Maynard and Pvt. Clarence, somewhere in England, Pvt. Pauline of the Wacs,, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga, and Pvt. Jesse,still at New Cumberland.
Pvt. Jack Hitesman, son of MRs. Ida Hitesman, of Railroad Street, has been wounded while fighting in Italy.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bieber entertained at a supper Saturday evening in honor of their son, Carl’s sixth birthday. Carl received several nice gifts.
Mrs. Dennis Gilnett, Unityville, R.D. , died Saturday at the home of her son, Raymond Gilnett, in Hummelstown.

Eddie Miller, Muncy High School football coach, submitted his resignation. Miller, who thus will leave the area without ever having fielded a Muncy team of his own, is returning to his alma mater, Kutztown State college, as instructor in history, assistant football coach, and secretary of the alumni association.
