An ordinance has been passed by our Borough Council extending the limits of the town. The change will add materially to the population of the Borough, and gives us territory sufficient to build a city. Lovely Lane, Treontown, and Port Penn, have all been taken under the protecting care of the Brough authorities. Wr learn, however, that the good people of Port Penn are disposed to question the right of our Borough fathers to “take them in” without their consent, and propose to contest the matter before the court.

A boatman named Frederick Groff, was robbed of $140 at the Muncy Basin, on Friday night last, while asleep in the cabin of his boat.

The recent rains brought to all the drives as well as the loose logs between here and Lock Haven.

There never was perhaps such an abundance of cherries in this community as there has been this season.

Bulger Moore, a well known character of Williamsport, while walking on the Reading Railroad tracks near Muncy station on Tuesday morning, was struck by a switch engine.

Miss Ann Phillips, our oldest resident, has entered upon the 97th year of her pilgrimage on this earth, and the prospects are fair for rounding out the century.,

Russel Glass, the accommodating proprietor of the Pennsylvania and Erie Bus Line, has purchased the Rooker lot located on Market Street, between the properties of Messers, G. Gowers and Nelson Bruner. This looks as if congratulations are in order.

The steamboat “Mary Hull”, of Montgomery carried several visitors from that place to the camp of the “Jay Jackets” at Ashurst’s landing last week.

Miss Laura Fry of Muncy and Artie Lupole of Andrews Place, were united in marriage Wednesday morning.

Miss Dorothy Kisner was united in marriage on July 7 to Charles Stoler, Jr. of Pembrook.

Thorn D. Brewer, the last of a long line of blacksmiths died this morning after an illness of several months. He was about 74 years of age.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schenck, on July 15, a daughter, who has been named Dora Edith.

Miss Bonnie Rush, of California, became the bride of Lt. James S. Wood, of “Shuttle Hill”, Muncy, last Saturday evening.

On Wednesday morning S/Sgt. David Miller was interviewed on the popular program called “Breakfast at Sardi’s Monday through Friday mornings which takes place at the famous Sardi Restaurant, the restaurant in Hollywood frequented by so many celebrities.

Pfc. Glenn Friant was recently graduated rom gunnery school at Tyndall Field, Panama City, Fla., where he received his wings and was assigned to a B-29 Fortress, Uncle Sam’s super bomber, those same bombers that bombed Japan recently, causing Tojo and his henchmen to jump up and down in their rage.

Died: Mrs. Mary E. Keener, Muncy R.D. 3, died Tuesday noon, July 18; Miss Margaret Rynearson dies at her home on Muncy R.D. 2 Tuesday evening.

Word has been received here that Edward M. Fague, formerly of Muncy, died at his home in New Jersey, July 13.

Edward Bayley and Sons and J.E. Hoffman and Sons Muncy area coal dealers for more than half a century, have announced the sales of their business to Don Nicholas and son, of Dewart.

The God and Country award-highest church award in Boy Scouting-was presented to Donald Foust, 14-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foust of Muncy on June 29.

Kris Klinger, sone of the all-time great backfield performers at Lock Haven State college and currently assistant football coach at Line Mountain high school, has been named varsity football coach at Muncy high school.

Married- Miss Barbara Jean Corson, of Lairdsville, and Douglas Martin Houseknecht of Hughesville on June 28.

A double ring ceremony was performed on June 28, Miss Catherine Jane Schenck, of Muncy, was married to Michael Lenwood Myers, also of Muncy.

Miss Sylvia Mae Plotts, of Huntersville, and Paul Douglas Radway, of New York, exchanged weeding vows on June 28.

Engagement told of Judith Beatrice Ryder to Pvt. E2 Robert LaRue Simmons, of Hughesville.
