Have you sampled the Impossible Whopper yet? The new vegan sandwich available at Burger King, including the Muncy location, “features a savory flame-grilled patty made from plants topped with juicy tomatoes, fresh lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions on a soft sesame seed bun.” In this person’s opinion, it appears to look like a burger, smell like a burger, and has the “mouth-feel” of a meat burger. As for the claim that it tastes just a beef burger, not so much. As for the nutritional content of the Impossible Whopper varies little with a side-by-side comparison to the original Whopper burger. But the most staggering number is the amount of sodium in the Impossible Whopper, 1080 miligrams to the original’s 980 miligrams. The vegan choice also contains 58 grams of carbs to the Original’s 49 grams. And being plant-based, the protein is surprisingly less in the Impossible Whopper. Food for thought: if you want to eat a burger that tastes like burger, go with the original Whopper-you won’t be wondering “where’s the beef?”
A mysterious incident on Saturday, June 29 has yet to be solved, and probably will remain so. Pennsylvania State Police were called to the 300 block of South Main Street after reports of bloody tracks were discovered by residents in that area. PSP determined that an unknown suspect walked through the neighborhood of South Market and Main streets to the alley southward, sometime after 1:30 a.m., leaving behind bloodied footprints. Muncy Chief of Police James Dorman said it was determined the person was barefoot and had sustained an injury on their feet, which led to profuse bleeding. The tracks suddenly ended at the corner end of the block, where police believe the suspect may have received a car ride. Dorman reported that no reports were received from area hospital regarding the wounded suspect, making the incident more curious.
