September 22, 1849

At about 12 o’clock A.M., of Thursday last our citizens were started by the cry of fire. The flames were soon found to proceed from the stable of Mr. John McCallister, on the rear of his lot fronting the north side of the diamond, and spread with fearful rapidity to the adjacent buildings, but with singular good fortune, were prevented by the praise worthy exertions of those upon the ground, from consuming any dwelling.

Whitmoyer, of near Muncy, Sept. 19. He would have been 69 years old; Stephen Kepner, 88, died on Monday Sept.. 19 at his home in Penn Township near Hughesville.

Dr. Elizabeth Lee Goodnow, of Muncy, and Dr. Ali Arani, of Kashan, Iran, were married on Sept. 13.
