W.C. Kisner and Son, having taken over the meat business of R.W. Brass, has moved the same to the Maurer Stand, 12 North Main Street, and are now open for business with all kinds of meat at reasonable prices.

A most distressing accident occurred at the home of Mr and Mrs. C.C. Pfleegor, about 11 o’clock Tuesday when their little four year old daughter Betty, was injured by a mantle falling over on her, burying the child under it. Betty regained consciousness, and we are glad to state, has been as bright as could be and is getting along fine. It took three men to place the mantle back in place.

Muncy had another new car dealer this week with the formal opening scheduled for Saturday afternoon of Shaheen Motors, Inc., handling the agency for Oldsmobile.

In a candlelight ceremony amid a background of white mums, pompoms and pink roses, Miss Winifred Myers, of Muncy, and George S. Odell, of Hughesville, were united in marriage at the home of the bride on Oct. 7 at 7:30 pm.

Edna H. Pewterbaugh and George P. Swartz, both of Pennsdale, were married Saturday morning, Oct. 1.

A double ring ceremony at the St. John Lutheran church of Montgomery will unite in marriage Miss Shirley Louise Blessing and Delroy A. Schenck, of Milton.

J. C. Thomas Stricken, retired Muncy farmer, suffered a paralytic stroke on Monday. His condition is fair.

Montgomery, which through the years has produced as many professional baseball players per capita as any community in this area, may now have another in the making. He is Albert (Snake) Burrows, who left Montgomery at the age of 17 to join the Marines, and even then he was a good looking baseball prospect. In the Marines his baseball playing has attracted the attention of many scouts, and he’s all set now, it is reported, to sign a Boston Red Sox contract when he’s discharged from the service in January.

Died: Jerry Griffin, 79-year old Montgomery native who died at his home near Pittsburg on Oct. 5.

Homecoming Queen candidate for the 1969 homecoming weekend, Oct. 18-19, at Lock Haven State College is Miss Jean Hessler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hessler, of near Muncy.

Sgt. Ronald L. Schooley, son of Mr and Mrs. John J. Hans, of Muncy, was administered the oath of enlistment at Pieiku Ab, Viet Nam, for another tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force.

ATR 3/c Gene L. McCarty, son of Amos McCarty and Mrs. Violet Fox, both of near Muncy, graduated from Lowry AFB after completing courses in electronics and radio wave.

Myers Wounded in Vietnam: Pfc. Robert L. Myers, of Hughesville, returned Sunday to the U.S. Naval Hospital at Philadelphia, after spending two weeks at his home.

Died: Austin C. Curtin, for 61 years business manager of the State Industrial Home for Women at Muncy until his retirement in 1960, died Monday, Oct. 6, at the age of 74; Nicholas T. Tironie, retired Hughesville businessman, died Oct. 6 at the age of 75.
