George Wentzler, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. Donald Wentzler, has earned a part in the current Broadway comedy hit “Grease”, playing at the Royale Theatre, in New York City. He will be playing the part of Eugene, the class valedictorian.

A most successful holiday dance was the Christmas party sponsored by the Muncy High School Parent-Teacher Organization for the junior high school students. A highlight of the affair was the naming of a Queen and King to reign over the dance. Chosen for the honor were Mis Debbie Andrews and Kevin Balliet.

Deaths: The funeral of Alfred H. Hill took place from the residence of his son Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. J.H. Barb, officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant Hills Cemetery, in charge of the Masonic fraternity. Mr Hill was 86 years of age and had been a very active man during his life. He was born August 14, 1836, in Muncy Creek township, educated in the public schools and Pennsylvania College, Gettysburg. Married Caroline Corson of Shrewsbury township, in 1859. Moved to Hughesville in 1862 in the home in which he died. He was Conductor on the first train that entered Hughesville January 2, 1872, elected to the Pennsylvania Legislature in 1876, served two years. From 1880 to 1882 was right of way buyer for the Standard Oil Co., of New York. Traveling salesman for Burrows Bros. Co., of Picture Rocks, until 1895, when appointed Postmaster by President Cleveland. From 1904 to until 1919 was County Auditor. He is survived by a son, Ex-Postmaster C. Steck Hill, and a daughter, Mrs. Fannie Cook. It has been Mr. Hill’s boast that he never missed an election since 1857, and that he was a staunch Democrat.
HUGHESVILLE PLANT PLANS ENLARGEMENT
The United Buyers Manufacturing company, makers of toy furniture, has acquired title to two tracts of land adjoining its establishment at the rear of Main street, to provide for expansion necessary to accommodate a steadily increasing business. The company, which started business in a small shed in 1920, now uses 5,000 feet of floor space and is turning out 5,000 pieces of toy furniture a day. The F.W. Woolworth company has placed an order calling for practically the entire output of the plant for the next six months.
WEDDING
Mrs. Laura Ball and Charles W. Persun were married at the bride’s home on East Water street, Saturday evening, December 30, by Rev. Lepley. A few of their immediate friends witnessed the ceremony.
