March 21, 1874
John Mengis, formerly of Muncy Creek township, died in Texas recently.
Rev. Jacob Miller, of East Muncy, left home on Saturday morning last, preached six sermons, walked 25 miles and returned home on Wednesday. Mr. Miller is 62 years of age.
The shingle mill and Handle Factory of A. L. and C. H. Eddy, at Picture Rocks, was totally destroyed by fire on Tuesday night. Loss $5,000, no insurance.

Miss Mame De Lany gave a very pleasant party last Friday evening.
Bids for the new Post office site at Williamsport closed on Saturday.
The citizens of Lewisburg have subscribed $20,000 for the erection of a water plant.
Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Peterman entertained at a family dinner in honor of their son, Fred Peterman and bride, on Wednesday evening.
One of the windows in the new Lutheran church at Williamsport is a memorable of the late Philip Heilman, of Muncy Creek township.

Died: Rev. John P. Crane, died March 9. Mr. Crane was pastor of the Muncy Presbyterian church for five years.
Mrs. James A. Pressler met with an accident Tuesday morning. In using an electric clothes wringer her left hand was caught between the rolls and before she could turn off the power her hand had been drawn in to the wrist.. The had was badly bruised and lacerated that required stitches.

A flash fire of undetermined origin completely destroyed the residence and two car garage of Edward Noyes, Sr., near Montgomery early Wednesday morning.

Norman Wetherill has purchased a new Chevrolet sedan.
Miss Berthena Wetherill, of Newberry, is the guest of relatives in this place.
Miss Mae Ball was confined to her home last week by illness.
Mrs. Boak Steigleman is a patient at the Williamsport Private hospital.
Mrs. Curtis Wetherill has returned home from the Williamsport Private hospital, where she underwent an operation.
Ruth Jane, little daughter or Mr. and Mrs. David Opp, who underwent an operation at the Williamsport hospital several weeks ago, was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bubb on Saturday evening, where she will remain for some time.
Born, on March 11, to Mr. and Mrs. Rosendale, of Railroad street, a son.
The little daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Andy Odell, has been named Ruth.
Harry Travelet and family have moved from South Railroad street, into the Carl Hughes property on Academy street.
Mr. and Mrs. Ward Smith and daughter Ruth, and Miss Nellie and Earl Barto were visitors in Williamsport Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Brady Poust and Yola Cowden spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Bull and family, at Montoursville.
