April 11, 1874
The depot at Hall’s Station was broken into Friday night and a number of car keys, the property of the railroad company and several articles of clothing belong to W.C.Painter, the agent, were taken.
The Hon. H.W. Petrikin and John Van Buskirk, deposited 1200 salmon trout in the Susquehanna near this place on Tuesday.
On Sunday morning Williamsport was visited by the largest and most destructive fire ever known in the history of the place. Two large saw mills, fourteen dwellings, 23,000,000 feet of lumber were burned, causing a loss of $600,000 on which there is an insurance of $126,580.00.

A.T. McCarty is exhibiting a chair in his bachelor quarters at the corner of Main and Water streets that was made in 1771.
Lee Brenn has purchased a residence from Levi Preist in Pennsdale where he is engaged in the blacksmith business.

DEATHS: Mrs. Anna M. Plankenhorn, wife of George Plankenhorn died Thursday evening at the family home on Second street at the age of sixty-two. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, Rev. Bieber, pastor of the Muncy Lutheran church officiating.
Glenn E Warn, aged thirty-two years, died Monday afternoon at the home of his father, near the borough. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home and burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Daniel G. Billman, aged fifty-six years, died at his home on Water street Tuesday morning after an illness of several years. He leaves three sisters, Mrs. Matthew Martz and Mrs. Jesse Sahm, of this place, and Mrs. E.E. Hart of South Williamsport. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Martz on Fourth street, with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The P.O.S. of A. took part in the services.
Mrs. Julia A., wife of Rev W.A. Lepley, pastor of the Methodist church in this place, passed to the rest beyond easily and suddenly Wednesday at 6:45 P.M. The body may be viewed Friday from 7 to 9 P.M. The burial will be from the church Saturday at 1 P.M. Burial in Wildwood cemetery, Williamsport.
The funeral of Miss Ruth Yarnell will take place from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. A. Boak tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery. She was stricken yesterday morning with a stroke, from which she died a few hours later, in her 80th year. She was a very faithful member of the Methodist church and Sunday School.
SALES: G.B.M. Welliver will expose to Public Sale at the Commercial House, barn, at Muncy on Saturday, April 21, 1923, at 12 o’clock P.M., rain or shine: fourteen head horses, consisting of workhorses, race horses and a saddle horse, cow, wagons, harness, blankets and many articles too numerous to mention.
Jacob W. Reed will expose to Public Sale at the premises, about 1 l/2 miles from Lairdsville, on Thursday, April 19, 1923, at one o’clock P.M., the following: cow, 35 chickens, two stoves, carpets, rugs, beds and many other articles too numerous to mention.
George Plankenhorn, administrator, will expose to Public Sale, the personal property of Anna Plankenhorn, deceased, at the residence, 153 North Second street, on Saturday, April 21, 1923, at one o’clock P.M.: Sewing machine, chairs, dishes, rockers, couch, carpets and many other articles too numerous to mention.
SERVICES: There will be no preaching services in Methodist church next Sunday on account of the death of the pastor’s wife, Mrs. Lepley.
