Dear Ladies: There has been an error in the Luminary in the Wednesday, April 19, 2023, publication of a birth announcement-April 9, 1953-70 years ago. Birth announcement: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Myers, Muncy, daughter, April 2, is wrong. Correction should read: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Myers, Muncy, daughter, Aril 1. I was born at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday 1st of April, 1953. My doctor, George J. Callenburg, MD, signed my time and date of birth as April 1, 1953, and 7 lbs, 2 ounces; 18 1/2 inches.

Willie, son of D.A. Jones and grandson of Wm. Rickholt of this place, was drowned at Williamsport on Thursday.

The many friends of T.D. Beeber are ready to congratulate him upon his having completed his college course at Gettysburg.

A four pound cannon ball was picked up on the farm of MRs. Potter in Muncy township by Anthony Fulmer, one day last week.,

Three horses were burned to death in a fire Tuesday night, at the corner of Campbell and Gilmer streets, Williamsport, and on Wednesday night an attempt was made to burn the lumber yard of Elder and Hunt but the flames were extinguished before any damage was done

Jacob Kramer, of the Mansion House, Watsontown, exhibits another big porker that weighed from 1200 to 1500 pounds.

Curry Fulmer lost two valuable horses by drowning when he attempted to drive through the river to Hall Island.

Charles Hankner, a young Swede, who worked for Samuel Cook since last fall in Nippinose township, was found hanging to a cross-beam in the barn on the Mrs. Cook farm. An inquest was held the jury returning a verdict that they suspect one Samuel Cook as committing the crime.

Mrs. Charles W. Harter had both arms and her shoulder badly burned when she slipped and fell on the concrete walk in the rear of the house while carry an ash pan filed with hot coals.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sedan on Tuesday, a son.

Muncy defeated Montgomery on the local field last Saturday by a score of 12 to 4.

The 8th grade of the Muncy public schools picnicked at Van Rensaller’s park at Picture Rock on Saturday.

The following persons have improved their properties on Main street by putting in a curb: R.Q. Busler, Ashkar Bros., Mr. Sell, Lyman Myers and McConnell Bros.

Mrs. Beeber’s Sunday school class of the Lutheran Sunday School will hold a ten-cent social at the church June 8, at 8 o’clock. All members are invited to attend.

Tressler Orphans’ Home band, of Loysville, Pa., under the direction of Prof. Harry C. Stenger, have scheduled Hughesville for Saturday evening, June 16. Besides the band concert a special feature will be added this year, the band will carry a 1,000-foot film of moving pictures, which will be shown during the intermission. There will be about thirty-six boys, the director and chauffeur in the party, who will be entertained in pairs by the members of the church or their friends.

Lee Michael has purchased a Chalmers touring car. Brady Poust has purchased a new Dodge touring car, and Harvey Reed has purchased a new Nash touring car.

Albert Warn has purchased the Billman property on East Water street.
