The body of William Mapes who was drowned at Montoursville, was found floating in the river by William Doctor, at this place.
R.F. Shoemaker estimates his loss to his strawberry patch by the recent storm, to be at last $500.00.
June 28, 1923
Married: Irene Brass, of this place, and Orris Nuss, of Montgomery, on Wednesday evening; Miss Florence A. Albeck and Frank Rupert were united in marriage on Thursday evening of last week; Roland C. Laukle and Mildred B. McCoy, both of Muncy, were married on Saturday afternoon.
Several auto drivers were arrested during the past few days for reckless and speeding through town and were fined by Squire Link.
Fore the second time inside of the past two months thieves broke into the Brelsford Garage on Tuesday night and carried away a motor driven emery wheel.
R.C. Stein of Montoursville was seriously burned about the hands and body Tuesday morning when the telephone line which she was using came in contact with a high tension electric power line.
The large barn on the farm of Ray Kilgus, road leading to Exchange, was struck by lightning on Sunday afternoon and burned to the ground.

Helen Reece sailed from New York on the Queen Mary on June 24 for a 57-day tour of several European countries.

Navy Airman Recruit Barry R. Newton, of Montgomery, graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
Marine First Lieutenant William C. Rogers, , Hughesville, participated in an air training exercise at the U.S. Naval Station.
Jo Ella Fowler, of Muncy, has enlisted in the WAC and will leave July 9 for basic training.

Annual Camp Meeting
The annual Camp Meeting will begin on the island north of town July 12, to be continued until July 22, under the auspices of the Hughesville Camp Meeting Association. Evangelists will preach every evening. Joseph H. Smith will conduct the “School of the Prophets,” every morning at 10 o’clock.
Drowning
Lawrence Bartlow, eighteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bartlow, of Lairdsville, was drowned Monday afternoon at 3:50 o’clock while swimming with friends in the river. Some small boys noticed that he sank and did not reappear and calling some other boys they dove for him. After several attempts they brought him to the surface. Dr. Harold Baker, of Muncy, who was called, was not successful in bringing the boy back to life. Funeral services were held from the residence this morning.

The Roller reunion was held at Van Rensalaer park last Saturday.
Born, to Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Ferrell on Saturday, June 23, a daughter.
A festival will be held at the Huntersville Methodist church Saturday evening, June 30.
Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Burrows, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Melhuish, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nunn and Miss Edna Melhuish visited friends at Woolrich and Lock Haven recently.

Isiah Glidewell has purchased a Ford roadster.
Luray Swartz has purchased a Dodge touring car.
George H. Miller has purchased a new auto truck.
Milton Worthington has purchased a Jewett touring car.
Jacob Keller, who was stricken with paralysis a few days ago, is improving.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Houseknecht have returned home from their wedding trip to York state.
The daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Houseknecht has been named Betty-Blanche.
Mr. and Mrs. Brady Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hill motored to Mokoma Sunday and spent the day.

In the rose garden of Mrs. James Winteres can be found fifty-five different rose bushes.
Wedding
A very pretty wedding took place on Saturday morning at 10:30 o’clock in the Baptist church when Jessie Miller, daughter of Willis Miller, became the bride of John Kaufman, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.O. Kaufman. The ring ceremony was used. The church was very beautifully decorated and the immediate families were present. Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Kaufman left for their new home in Nile, Ohio.
