Dr. D.E. Albright has left at our office a corn stalk 19 inches high upon which s a perfectly developed ear of corn.
The final trial and acceptance of the new steam fire engine of the vigilantes took place Friday afternoon. A one an done eight inch stream was thrown through 100 feet of hose a distance of 236 feet 3 inches solid water.
Philip Peters, of this place,was found drowned in the mill pond at the White Lentz and White saw mill Tuesday morning.

Died: Frank Ritter, son of John T.Ritter, died suddenly at Boston on Tuesday morning of acute indigestion.

Picture Rocks
Mrs. J.W. Little and son, Thomas, spent Sunday at Philadelphia.
The first Miller reunion will be held at Boak’s Park on Wednesday, August 15. All relatives are urged to be present.
The Union Sunday School picnic of Picture Rocks will be held at Van Rensselaer park on Friday, August 10.
The young people of the Methodist church will hold a weiner roast at Van Rensselaer park on this (Thursday) evening. The young women are asked to bring sandwiches. All the young people of the community are invited.
V.H. Clifford will leave Saturday for England, where he will meet his wife and daughter, who have been spending some time there with relatives.
The weekly shoot of the Gun Club at the fair ground traps Monday evening was well attended and some splendid scores were made. Several marks were present from nearby towns and participated in the shooting.
BORN, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Houseknecht at the Williamsport hospital, a daughter.
Theodore Rummelt has returned to his duties at the Rishel factory after a several week’s illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fleming, of Philadelphia, are occupying their summer home on the island above town.
Mrs. Ellis Barto entertained the sewing circle and their husbands and friends at a picnic dinner at Shady Nook yesterday.
Workmen, under the direction of the street commissioner, have been constructing several new concrete crossings at a number of alleys intersecting with Main street.
The left front wheel and radiator of Mrs. Eva Redeker’s automobile was broken in a collision between her car and a new Overland car driven by Gay Taylor near the creek bridge at Picture Rocks last Saturday.
An auburn automobile had the top and front quite badly damaged Sunday afternoon, when a hollow tree fell upon it at the island above town where the camp meetings have been in progress. A passenger in the rear seat, asleep, was quite badly scared to find himself fastened in the wreckage when awakened by the noise. He was extricated and found to have no injuries of any consequence.
