Charles Fogleman of Muncy Creek township, was stricken with paralysis n Monday last.

The stores of George Stolz and Michael Rishel, adjoining each other on main, were entered by burglars on Wednesday night, last. Mr. Rishel lost $6.00 in money and Mr. Stolz only missed a dollar or two in small change.

Aug. 31, 1883

Williamsport was visited with lumber conflagration on Monday night, causing a loss of $390,000 Engines and firemen from responded to the call of the mayor for help.

Dr.Benjamin S. Langdon died Saturday, Aug. 25, aged 57 years.

Aug. 30, 1923

Died: Max Walton, 18, Williamsport, died following an operation which was performed Saturday morning. His death came as a result of an injury received in a basketball game at Memorial Park on Thursday; Sheriff Thomas M. Gray died very suddenly Tuesday afternoon, death being caused by heart trouble; WarrenW. Meginness, father-in-law of the late Sheriff Gray, died suddenly Wednesday evening while talking with his two daughters.

A recent promotion as moved Patty James, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark James, of Montgomery, to the rank of airman, first class, in the WAF.

Donald E. Miller and James Brittain, both of Muncy, have enlisted for a three-year hitch in the Marines.

Miss Linda M. Bay, Muncy, and Kenneth E. Ferry, of Port Trevorton, were married on Aug. 11.

Janet M. Frese, of Greenbelt, became the bride of Dale Schenck, of Muncy, on Aug. 4.

Deaths: Esther Taylor, 66, Muncy, died Aug. 26; Theresa B. Dolan, 76, Hughesville, died Aug. 27; Pauline Blough, 64, Lewisburg, died Aug. 25; Walter R. Campbell, Picture Rocks native and resident of Hughesville, died Aug. 28.

Aug. 23, 1923

Calvin Coolidge, as vice-president, became the 30th President of the United States, succeeding, in accordance with the law, to the highest office in the nation, as a result of President Harding’s Death.

Miss Myrtle Taylor spent Sunday at Atlantic City.

Fred Corcoran is building a garage in the rear of his residence.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bull and children, of Mt. Zion, were visitors in this place Saturday.

Miss Mabel Shipman has returned home after taking an eight-weeks’ course at State College.

Contractors W.A. Ball and Son, have commence the construction of their second house on South Second street.

B.F. Kahler reports that they are enjoying their camping trip in Maine. They are camping close to a village named Hiram in the Pine Forest at a lake, where they are catching an abundance of large fish.

Hughesville joins in the national demonstration of the better motion pictures. All this week–Paramount Pictures will be shown at the Odelphi Theatre. Sept. 3, “Affairs of Anatol” with an all-star cast. Sept. 6, Lionel Barrymore in “Boomerang Bill.” Gloria Swanson in “The Great Moment.” Ask your theatre when it’s coming. Sept. 5, “Bought and Paid For” and Sept. 8, “Experience” by Waldemar Young.

Mrs. George Engle and daughter, Josephine, have returned to their home in Williamsport after a few weeks’ visit with relatives in this place and vicinity.
