Indians edge out Spartans

Muncy 28, Hughesville 22

With two fourth-quarter touchdowns the Indians were able to edge the Spartans 28-22 avoiding a late upset. Freshman Nate Rogers caught the last second interception to seal the victory for the Indians. Jacob Fowler went over 100 yards and scored game-winning touchdown rushing for 111 yards, and two touchdowns. Landyn Wommer also scored. Austin Johnson had 215 yards and a 4th quarter touchdown. Hughesville posted a season high in yards with 393 in the loss. Tyler Wetzel finished with over 300 yards of offense (262 pass, 58 run) while teammates Aiden Barlett had five catches with 87 yards and two touchdowns and junior receiver Conor Knight had five catches for 96. The Spartans dropped to 3-7 but made playoffs as the No. 8 seed in Class AA. Muncy secured the No. 1 seed in Class A and will have a bye the first round. The Spartans will play Troy.

CMVT 46, Montgomery 26

CMVT defeated Montgomery, 46-26, but Coy Bryson broke a record in the loss producing of the best rushing yards in the area history, running for a program record of 401 yards and three touchdowns. Bryson joins Bragalone as the only area 400-yard rusher in the 21st century after Bragalone did so four times during his record-setting 2014 campaign. Zach Shadle held the previous Montgomery rushing record,rushing for 398 yards in the 2014 season opener. By halftime, Bryson already had gained 239 yards.
