Seniors socialized with soup supper
HUNTERSVILLE – Giving to charity, dining, entertainment and elections were on the agenda Wednesday evening during the Huntersville Senior Citizens November’s monthly meeting.
Dorothy and Richard Day annually arrange delivery of food donations to stock shelves at the Son-Light house in Muncy. To that end, attendees laden with armloads of non-perishables were greeted by the aroma of homemade vegetable soup as they entered the Methodist Church social hall.
“As some folks drive a distance, we always have a meal. They may come from Turbotville, Warrensville or Montoursville, but they’ve had some connection with the Huntersville area during their lifetime,” President Carla Auten said.
During the events of the evening, Larry Starr was serenaded in celebration of his November birthday.
Monetary donations given in memory of recently deceased members were made to the Heilman Church in memory of Thelma Burkhart and to the Muncy Public Library for Dolly Westerdale.
November’s entertainment was provided by Rick Smith of Watsontown who sang a medley of gospel songs.
Members of the 28 year-old organization held elections with all officers retaining positions for another year including President Carla Auten, Vice President Bernice Hessler, Treasurer June Harris and Secretary Margaret Hart.
