On the first Saturday of each month the First United Methodist Church in Muncy will hold a ballroom dancing and social in the Celebration Center at 602 S. Market Street. This looks like a fun night if you like to dance. Bring a group and a snack to share if you like. The suggested donation per person is only five dollars. There is also a free lesson from 6:40 to 7 p.m. and dance music begins at 7 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. Some water and soda will be provided. The next ballroom social is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 2.
It’s never too late to start your own business and the first step to take is to attend a Pre-Business Workshop at the Small Business and Development Center at Bucknell University. They will help with planning, setting up legal structures, selecting a locatoin, getting necessary licences, acquiring tax ID, hiring employees and so much more. The Susquehanna Valley Quilt Guild has space for anyone who is interested in a 3 night quilting retreat at the Linck Hill Inn in Morris, PA from March 7 to 9. A deposit is required to hold your space

The Muncy Public Library is getting ready to focus on gardening again and Linda Strausser, director announced that the first meeting in January will be on seed selection. She is gathering a wide selection of books and resources on food preservation, design placement, year round gardening, growing herbs and garden structures. To get on the mailing list for the garden and harvest group contact the Library and provide your email address.
Meals on Wheels at the Meck Senior Center could really use some volunteers. They need drivers, assistants and coorinators to donate their time one or more days per week. To sign up call 570-323-3096 or visit STEP Office of Aging at 2138 Lincoln Street in Williamsport.
Due to the bad storm over the weekend, the Lycoming County Women’s Democratic Committee had to postpone their fundfaiser event to Saturday, Feb. 2 and it will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Williamsport.
Tuesday January 29 is National Puzzle Day so if you have time on your hands, get out your favorite puzzle or visit the library.
The weather has been terrible, and icy over the weekend. Many church services and sermons were cancelled but thanks to live streaming, you could hear the sermons over the internet.

Thurs. Jan. 24 The SVQG will have a quilting yard sale for their members at 1st UM Church in Pennsdale at 7 p.m. including some handmade items. If interested in participating let Sue Keller know. Don’t forget to bring money for the bargains. The class for the Carpenter’s Star with Teri Snyder is filled this Saturday. An open workshop is scheduled for Feb. 23.

Fri. Feb. 1 Red Cross bloodmobile at Muncy Valley Hospital, 215 E. Water St., Muncy, 10-3. A donation shortfall is prompting the American Red Cross to issue an emergency call for blood and platelet donors to prevent a shortage over the winter.
Sat. Feb. 2 Lore, Legend and Natural History of Groundhogs, Montour Preserve Center, 10-11 a.m. Presented by Jon Beam. Meet in the Environmental Educatiion Center. Celebrate groundhogs and their ability to predict the weather. Learn all about their life history during this free program.
